He expressed that he felt singled out for blame for the club's disappointing beginning to the campaign.
“I can’t believe … I am sat on the bench for 90 minutes,” Salah stated. “This is the third match on the bench, perhaps for the first time in my professional life. I am extremely disappointed.”
Another major Premier League story saw the Gunners' last-gasp loss at Aston Villa, courtesy of by Emi Buendía's winning strike. That result, coupled with Manchester City's straightforward win over the Black Cats, has left a very tight race at the top of the table.

Developing Mini-Leagues
It appears three separate battlegroups developing in this campaign's top flight.
- The Title Race: Arsenal, Manchester City and Aston Villa are seemingly contending for the top prize.
- The Packed Middle: A very tight section contains Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle and Manchester United, all with designs on the European places. Can any put together a winning run to challenge the top teams?
- The Fight for Survival: The dogfight to stay up probably involves Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Burnley and West Ham, with Wolverhampton Wanderers appearing especially in trouble. Teams like others could also be dragged into the fight.

The Salah Debate Continues
The fallout from Mohamed Salah's explosive interview continues. Opinion is split into two distinct sides to the debate. Has he done enough to voice his frustration as a bona fide Liverpool legend? On the other, is manager Arne Slot right in doing what he believes is necessary to attempt to win matches?
Views from supporters appears divided:
“United fan here. If memory serves, Salah was PFA Player of the Year 6 months ago and now he’s the main target. This is no way to treat a club legend.”
“Perhaps we should take a moment to have sympathy for Mo Salah? He must have overlooked that he is currently Liverpool's highest ever earning player... Someone hard done by, Mo, you are not.”
What next for Mo Salah, then? Speculation suggests his relationship with the club may now be burned. Will he seek a loan to a club abroad? Might he accept a lucrative offer and move to the Saudi Pro League after the Africa Cup of Nations?
Sad News from the Championship
A pair of Championship fixtures were called off on Saturday.
- The game between Charlton Athletic and Pompey at The Valley was halted in the 12th minute after a supporter was taken ill. It was later announced the supporter passed away in hospital.
- Blackburn Rovers's game against Sheffield Wednesday was also paused and abandoned due to a waterlogged playing surface at Ewood Park. Heavy rain – for the second time this season at the ground – made the pitch unsuitable.
There is no word yet on when either game will be rescheduled.
